Homemade Dog Food for Dogs with Allergies

Nothing about this is fancy. No sophisticated recipes or ingredients. That’s the point. These recipe ideas are for beginners or the “lovingly but tapped out” committed. First note that dogs do need their food switched up from time to time as they get bored. Also, monitor how they react. Like Archie, who loves to pick out beets from his food like a pouty five year old who would rather have chicken nuggets. They. Let. You. Know.

What Dogs Shouldn’t Eat

  • Caution with skin on plant or animal
  • Grapes
  • Cranberries, cherries
  • Tomatoes
  • Citrus anything
  • Bones- they can split and cause damage
  • Avocados
  • Mushrooms

Archie friendly dog food recipes

It’s so easy. There is one base with two options. This is based on Archies food allergies- no wheat, corn, or chicken. Plus it’s optimal to provide protein, nutrients, and settle his stomach. The veggies are bought frozen, because prep can be a b$!%&. I have the space to make this in large quantities, we keep a stock pot just for him. A rice cooker works in a pitch for a smaller amount. Slow cookers work too.

Base

White or brown rice

Peas

Green beans

Carrots

Coconut oil

Optional Add ins

Boiled eggs

Peeled sweet potatoes

Peeled and diced apples

Pumpkin puree

We hope we helped your canine foodie with some tasty food recipes. I quarter the recipes for a six quart rice cooker. Or something like that. When he has found a goldfish cracker, it’s pure rice. White rice is a helpful grain that’s easy tolerate and help move those toxic goldfish crackers out. Humans don’t leave me yet, there’s more on food relationships on the way.
